LPR®-SAFE is a functionally safe distance measurement system compliant with EN ISO 13849 PLd. Designed for semi-automatic and fully automatic crane systems and rail-bound vehicles, it uses 60 GHz (LPR®-1DHP-291) or 24 GHz (LPR®-1D24) radar sensors integrated with a certified safety function block on a fail-safe Siemens PLC.

How it works?

Two redundant sensor sections measure distance and send the data to a fail-safe PLC. A certified EN ISO 13849 PLd safety function compares both measurements—if they match within tolerance, the result is confirmed as safe; if not, safety actions are triggered.

Overview

LPR®-SAFE system structure for new installations

Symeo provides all devices and software modules of the LPR®-SAFE system, and the new installation is as easy as usual. The sensors of the respective measuring section are configured via WebUI. The connection to the PLC (Siemens S7 with fail-safe CPU), on which the safe function block is executed, is established on site.

LPR®-SAFE retrofit for existing Symeo measuring sections

To upgrade existing Symeo measuring sections to functionally safe LPR®-SAFE systems, we offer customized solutions that reduce the retrofitting time to a minimum.
